Ingredients

  • 1.25 pounds Ground Beef (For Burger)
  • 5 hamburger buns
  • 5 slices of Swiss cheese
  • 5 pineapple rings (fresh or canned)
  • 5 lettuce leaves
  • 1/2 cup teriyaki sauce
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Equipment

  • Grill or grill pan
  • Spatula
  • Basting Brush:

Method

  1. Prepare the Grill: Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. If using a grill pan indoors, heat it over medium-high heat on the stovetop.
  2. Form the Patties: Divide the ground beef into 5 equal portions. Shape each portion into a patty, making sure they are slightly larger than the diameter of the hamburger buns to allow for shrinkage during cooking. Season both sides of the patties with salt and pepper.
  3. Grill the Patties: Brush the grill grates or grill pan with vegetable oil to prevent sticking. Place the burger patties on the preheated grill or grill pan. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until desired level of doneness is reached. During the last minute of cooking, add a slice of Swiss cheese on top of each patty to melt.
  4. Grill the Pineapple Rings: While the burgers are cooking, place the pineapple rings on the grill or grill pan. Grill for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until grill marks form and the pineapple is slightly caramelized.
  5. Assemble the Burgers: Toast the hamburger buns on the grill for about 1 minute, until lightly toasted. Remove the buns from the grill and assemble the burgers. Place a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun, followed by a grilled burger patty with melted cheese, a grilled pineapple ring, and a drizzle of teriyaki sauce. Top with the other half of the bun.
  6. Serve and Enjoy: Serve the Grilled Hawaiian Teriyaki Burgers immediately while they're hot and juicy. Pair them with your favorite sides like coleslaw, potato salad, or fries, and enjoy a taste of paradise right at home!
